Ok, even though this is a re-read (or re-listen) I seriously can't finish this. I'm done with this series. Bella is such a fucking martyr and so all she does is talk about how she's not worthy of anything and how pain is the only thing that she deserves. I recall liking Jacob the first time I listened to this one, but this time around I realized he's just as patronizing and condescending to Bella as Edward is. Always calling her sweetie and honey, telling her she isn't strong enough and to just let him handle everything. Ugh, its just all so disgusting!

Finally gave up when Alice and Bella head off to save Edward and I just accepted that I can never get in to this garbage. This bitch is running off to save a dude who basically drove her to an intense state of depression. Depression so bad she contemplated killing herself because she just wasn't worthy of him.

Also, as a side note, WHAT THE FUCK IS WRONG WITH HER PARENTS?!

I truly love this book in the Twilight saga.

It is such a raw and in depth representation of teenage depression caused from heartbreak/loss. The feeling that Bella needs to do anything to try and not overcome necessarily, but trudge through the rest of her life knowing she isn't going to have her person anymore.

I will say I am team Edward but I do love Jacob as a character, NOT AS A LOVE INTEREST.

I think my biggest ick with this series is Stephanie Meyer's need to add a "love triangle" (which IMO it isn't even that since the main character doesn't love Jacob in the romantic sense). Anyways, because of Jacob's attitude in the latter half of the book it does take me longer to read than the others. But it really holds a special place in my heart.

Also big Jane fan, so love love love when they describe her.

I honestly have no idea why I decided to read it again, thanks to Kazıklı Maria the book of my teenage years has made its way back into my life. Surprisingly, this time around, I noticed a lot of subtle Mormon references I’d never picked up on before. It didn’t give me the same rush it did when I was a teenager, but the mythological parts were still fun to revisit.
