First and foremost I think it’s vitally important to mention the problematic aspect to this book/series. There’s taking, changing and sexualization of a nation of real people and their stories.

This review will be very chaotic because I’m just going to give you the list of notes I was making on my Notes app (and I won’t be proof reading):
New Moon
- Bella working at Newton’s
- Oct - Jan
- Jessica went on a date with Eric!
- ch 6 Bella describing Leah as beautiful in an exotic way?!
- Saying Lauren’s pixie cut = being scalped?!!!
- Bella and Jake study sessions at Charlie’s house
- There was no tiff in the book between Mike and Jake - but it really annoys me how Bella is just playing both boys. She knows they are both into her. And she keeps both of them hoping - Jake more than Mike obviously
- I hate how Bella isn’t introspective almost at all, like just thinking about how Jacob makes her feel - like he is responsible for her loneliness and boredom and should only live to fill the void in her (implied: since Edward is gone)
- She’s about to die and she thinks of Edward… so many contradictory thought from Bella during this time
- Bella giving quill a ride / talking to him about Jake and Sam
- Why is Jake’s hair cut when that’s part of their culture?!
- Bella telling Jake not to “break up” with her because she needs him… like it doesn’t matter what Jake needs
- Charlie calling Billy!
- it’s bad enough that rose calls Jake a dog later on but Jake just called himself a dog?!
- in book one Bella had to give Edward something to think about and now she had to give Jake something to think about to calm down
- Bella spent a lot of awkward time with Billy
- There was no tiff between Jake and Alice until Bella was out of the room she came back in at the end
- Charlie was being a bit of an unnecessary a hole to Edward lol
- She hasn’t thought of Jake once since she left, she’s home and awake and doesn’t think to call him even…..
- Why would Edward walk in and say each name instead of saying everyone, come down… silly
- I like that here in the book the vote is sort of like a bored meeting sitting around the giant dinning room table
- Bella doesn’t want to marry Edward but is fine to be turned into a vampire forever….

I read this book as fast as the first one, but I must admit that the last twenty pages or so, I wasn't as interested as before. This writer can write absolutely breathtaking. You get sucked in the story and can't put the book down, but to be honest, the story itself is a little bit shallow. That doesn't matter if you like vampires, love and thrillers. Altough it gets me a little worried that the third book is exactly like 1 and 2. I think I still like the first book the best. This was a little less interesting, mainly because it's not always clear why Bella keeps loving Edward even when he isn't around. Despite that you can have real pain of breaking up, it usually will get easier as time goes by. In this case she doesn't get over it and that's a little irritating. Also, I would like a little bit more story. As I said, I've found it a little shallow this time.

New Moon is a pretty good continuation of the story that began in Twilight. However, I do feel that the book had a lot of detail that seemed a little detached from the Edward and Bella story. I realize this book set the series up to have a solid love triangle, however, it felt like it was more its own story than part of the Bella-and-the-vampires plot. I am intrigued to see how the rest of the story goes for Bella and Edward, and I also cannot wait to see the way things go for Bella and Jacob's friendship.

Pretty sure Edward is evil actually and has a convoluted plan to ruin Bella’s life before killing her and honestly that makes me like the book more
don't like it as much. can't believe he would do that!!
