Book 2 is complete on my Twilight Series reread via audio. Whenever I start reading New Moon, I'm always intrigued because of the depression/heartbreak element. I know it makes Bella kind of bland (more bland) at first, but it's interesting seeing her try to fit back in with her friends after being out of the loop for so long. There's like an inkling of growth, BUT then she gets caught up in her daredevil urges to see her hallucinations, which lead to more unhealthy coping mechanisms. (Poor Charlie is so out of his depth on how to handle this but... we stan Charlie in this household. He is trying.) This whole book just kind of gave me more of an ick in regards to Bella and Edward's toxic relationship. I'm over here more interested in the Volturi development or the werewolf development (although Meyer's misrepresentation of Native Americans is DEFINITELY something to take note of) while Bella decides that she'll readily just accept Edward again after he ghosted her and wrecked her emotionally. At the end, this book just kind of feels like a blip because Edward and Bella are back to where they started before he left although we have new characters introduced who are now watching their moves (i.e., the Volutri and the werewolves to see if the Cullens turn Bella).
Nostalgia was a fun ride but I can admit faults with this book.

Maybe it was the person reading the book (as I did read this primarly on audiobooks -- a 30 minute one way drive gives you some "reading" time... but I became annoyed with Bella. Yes I remember being a teen & yes, I remember having my heartbroken. Bella takes this to a whole new level of heartbreak.
Her character seems a bit inconsistent with book one. Her 'using' Jacob seems very unlike the Bella we meet & embrace in Twilight.
The book is not without its good moments that kept me reading.
I am very interested to see how Eclipse reads...
