All the feels.

I feel like I should just start all my reviews with Pippa has done it again! Flirting with the Frenemy was phenomenal. While it lacked some of the crazy we’ve come to know and love from Pippa, all the feelings and amazing storylines were there. Wyatt and Ellie are a match made in crazy town. Accidents follow them but their love - in the end - is worth it. What started out fake quickly turned in to feelings neither of them expected. The sub-characters were written so well that I want to know more about all of them - especially Sloane! I’m counting down the days until the next Bro Code book is released!

I had read one Pippa Grant book before, so I knew going in that this book would likely  be a bit over-the-top with a side of crazy. And this story was.

Overall, I enjoyed the book. I liked the dynamic between Ellie and Wyatt. Wyatt, of course, is a swoon worthy man. Ellie is, well, she's a type A, and so I didn't necessarily relate to her, but I understood her. I loved their history and that everyone in their life knew they were in love before they did.

I wasn't quite sure about the book when they hook up within the first chapter and then Wyatt had the "this was a mistake" freak out. While normally the mistake trope can be cringy, in this case, it  worked because neither were in the right place. But oh my, still awkward because I think he stopped before he even finished. So awkward and mid-orgasm is not a great time to tell someone it's a mistake because of course they will hear it as *they* were the mistake. But anyway, luckily they had the history to make it work.

Other random thoughts: I loved the pirate-themed wedding and the whole pirate week. That would be amazingly fun. I found the sneezing a little weird. The cursing parrot was hysterical. Why was there a need for the goats? I also loved that this wasn't the typical best friend's little sister trope.

I kept seeing the Bro Code #2 book pop up in suggestions for me, and I was intrigued so of course I had to read #1 first and it did not disappoint. I really enjoyed the pace of this authors writing, and how the romance is definitely slow burn. Even though the beginning of this one starts off a little fast, the actual romance end is very slow burn. Also, I really enjoyed the comedic side of everything, it was so hard not to laugh out loud in some points.

Wyatt is a single military dad, which is a very hard thing to do. He has to split his time in the military and with his son who lives hours away. I loved to see the connection he has in this book with his son, it was really nice. In some books they write that the character has a child and then maybe put them in one chapter. Not only does he have a connection with his son, it was really nice to see how other people reacted to his son, especially Ellie. Wyatt has always picked on Ellie since they were little and her family practically took him in. I loved how he thought if he crossed any certain line with her, that her real brother would disown him along with her parents.

Ellie was definitely a fighter of everything, but you can tell she is in a slump when Wyatt comes to shipwreck. We all get in a slump and its nice to have someone to pull you out of it. She had her struggles, mostly with the curse that she thought her and Wyatt had, which was really bizarre and kind of hysterical at the same time. Her relationship with Wyatt’s son was seriously adorable, she just took him under her wing. I also really liked how her parents just adopted his son like he was their grandchild no big deal, from the moment he was born he was their grand baby. It was super sweet how she would do anything for her best friend during her wedding… I’m not sure many of us would do the same things.

After each Pippa book I always think this was the best one yet. But this one...this one is the best one because it brings two broken people together in a beautiful way. I love Wyatt and Ellie together!!

Pippa’s rom-com writing style in this book is less slapstick hilarity and more romantic fun. There are plenty of laugh out loud parts, but this is the first book by Pippa where I didn’t choke on something tried to eat or drink.

Ellie is a strong independent woman who has planned her life and when it goes off plan she feels unlovable. Wyatt is a grown man who still feels the hurt of a child who had a challenging childhood.

I loved meeting these new characters and can see them interacting with all of Pippa’s other characters in fun and hilarious ways.

I received an ARC for an honest review. I’m thrilled to get the opportunity to get my hands on Pippa’s book early to enjoy it and not have to wait for release day.

Sweet Funny

Ellie has know Wyatt all her life, she has always found him annoying, but one Christmas things just happen and she thinks its a mistake. She feels as is the universe is out to keep them apart. This funny Flirting with the Trendy book is hilarious with all the thing's that happen between these two every time they hook up and Ellie's superstition. I just couldn't put the book down.
Pills Grant keeps the punches rolling all the way to the end. I!I'm looking forward to reading the Bro Code Book 2

I love a single parent book. I haven't read much of Pippa Grant's work, but I will be reading more of her work.

I thought I would find Wyatt and Ellie's back and forth to be irritating. Surprisingly, it wasn't. Ellie and Wyatt were snarky, funny, and entertaining. Tucker was the icing on the cake.

It seemed like there was a lot of backstory going on with the boy band issue, Jason and Monica, Wyatt being like another son to Allie and Beck's parents, etc.

I honestly don't think all of that took away from Wyatt and Ellie's story and the crazy pirate theme running throughout.

I do have to add that the end of the book was confusing when the Beck issue was thrown into the mix. I wish the epilogue would have offered more info about what happened with Wyatt and Ellie. Other than them getting their HEA, which we knew was going to happen, I feel like it left us hanging.

This was a sweet, humorous, sexy fun romance. There are a number a laughs in this book. Even the couple of angsty moments don't last long enough to detract from the lighthearted humor of this book.

I read this via Kindle Unlimited.

Book one of the Bro Code Series starts with a bang or should I say with a pirate? Wyatt may not have been in the boy band Bro Code, but he was part of them. He grew up with Beck and the rest of the gang, but he went into the military. Beck’s sister Ellie has also always been there. They had a real “hatred” for each other. He always told her she could have done better and she always had to prove that she could be better at everything then him.

But you know what they always say hate/love has a fine line between them and they are right! These two characters burned up the pages of this book! I loved the banter between these two! Pippa as I’ve always said has a way of writing outrageous stories that feel real!

We get pirates, a salty parrot, adventure and love in a great book!
