The origin of the Owens family curse through the story of Maria Owens in the 1600s as she leaves her homeland and comes to America.

If you are coming to this book because you loved the movie Practical Magic, then let me tell you right off that this story is darker with heavier themes. It focuses on sadness, despair, loss, abandonment and love (good or bad). There are times where this novel slows and feels like a bit like an information dump but it still help my interest and I did enjoy the read. I will be continuing with the series.

Will do more of an in-depth review once I complete the series.

A three generation story of the 1600s from Europe to Salem. As you follow each witch and her path, it’s weaved with a grimoire throughout. It’s such a great sequel to Practical Magic to see where the Owen’s family all started. I am intrigued to see how the rest of the series is!
