Kinsey Millhone books are always good, and this is no exception. There were some bits I saw coming and some that I didn't, but it was a fun and exciting read.

Engrossing mystery. But I felt like I was on an old episode of M*A*S*H, looking for the last chapter of the book. I see why this particular novel raised so much...discussion. It really has such a different ending than the other Millhone books. Still a great tale, but wow...

3 and a half stars--This seemed a little more mellow than most of the ABC books, but I didn't mind. I never read these with much expectations anyway, just a fluff mystery for fun.

This was an audio book, listened to in the car. Enjoyed it quite a lot, until the end, which I found abrupt. I'm going to look for the book in the library, to see if the end was reading the end ... it seems like there should have been an epilogue, as usual with Kinsey Millhone mysteries, and there wasn't.

Kinsey is asked to investigate the disappearance of a doctor; his ex-wife is worried that the police aren't making progress finding him. Fiona, the ex-wife, is not a sympathetic character; the current wife by-and-large comes off as one. There's a rebellious teenage stepdaughter, and the grownup daughters of Fiona as well (who are not well-fleshed out). And if there is fraud at the nursing home where the doctor was the medical administrator - who is responsible?

Kinsey is also looking for office space, and finds the perfect space ... only to find out about the problems with the landlords after signing the lease. This is the sub-plot that puts Kinsey in the most danger. The two plots don't really intersect.

2.5 stars dropped from 3 because of a non-ending. The story left you hanging without a resolution when it needed one and was set up for one. It was like the last chapter or two of the book were never published. Very annoying.

This book was better than the last thank goodness. Kinsey is in for a triple mystery this time. The main mystery is set up when she is hired by the ex-wife of a missing doctor to find him. As she is searching for the doctor she is also searching for a new office for work when she runs into mystery number two, her prospective new landlords. Brothers who have a mysterious background and one of them begins to stalk Kinsey. The third is when she agrees to help Henry sort out a friend's medical bills which are tied back to the doctor she is searching for and possible fraud. Throw in the doctor's new wife, her delinquent and bitchy teenage daughter, a possible affair and a new cop friend and you have the workings of an interesting story. The only bad part is the pacing of the book which is slow to start before it begins a pattern of slowing down, speeding up, and slowing down over and over until the incomplete ending.

I got lost towards the end on this one. I haven't read Kinsey in over a decade, so I expect that Q will feel more familiar. Maybe my feeling was off because this is the first one I've listened to, while the others I've only read?

There were some plot points that I thought stood out like a sore thumb all throughout, but of course, I never figured out the whole thing.

I am sad that she won't get that new office space! LOL

FFS. You would think that a damn PI would investigate someone BEFORE dating, doing business with or believing that they are also an investigator. Does Kinsey do any of that? Of course not!! o_O Grrrr! LOL
