Oh god this book. Laini Taylor's writing is so lyrical and poetic, it is just beautiful. This book is the type of book that you can fully immerse yourself in. The imagery is so vibrant. It had a slow and beautiful pace.

I adored Lazlo Strange, Strange the Dreamer. He was a dreamer, he was kind, he was so quirky yet relatable. I cannot wait to see what sort of growth he goes through in the second book with how things ended.
I also really enjoyed Sarai. Her story is heartbreaking.
The city of Weep is heartbreaking. This book dealt with some really really heavy and dark themes. Heavier than I was expecting. This is not a black and white story, but full of grey.
It is utterly unique. I've never read a story like it. I cannot wait to read book 2.

I cannot even put into words how much I loved this book. The writing style was so beautifully poetic, the characters were wonderful, the tension was perfect and the plot was just unreal. I am in love with this world and I absolutely cannot wait to read the next one.

I must get the second book as soon as it comes out. I MUST.

the ending only left me with one question: why? after everything, why? why? I know Minya was left heartless but why? after they finally met, why? ....why?

this book is astoundingly beautiful. gosh, I don't even know where to begin. thank you Book Buddy Group for picking this book♥

the writing and the world building suit my taste. I deeply love the ones that tell me about the cities' landscapes. Lazlo's journey and dreams: I find my other Wonderlands in here. thank you, Laini Taylor (Lewis).
the characters, obviously Lazlo is my favourite because he is gentle and kind and a librarian (ha!) I'm deeply relieved when Lazlo wants to go out of his comfort zones. he loves his books, but thank gods, he loves his dreams more so he works for them realistically. this teaches me that I can dream hard and not to be afraid even being delusioned to come out of my comfort zones; I need to make my dreams live in the daylight.
other characters, meet Calixte and Ruza! I wish I can see them more in the second book. and Sparrow :( I want her meet her beloved one. and Sarai, my godspawn. thank you for teaching me how to forgive, thank you so much.

why I do not give this book full 5 godspawns, well because sometimes I just think I need more (again) adrenaline, action. I was thinking wildly that the ungrateful boy (ehem) would have something sinister to plot at the end but no? not yet probably. I am thinking of more explosions and fights than just battling with ghosts for probably some minutes? things are just gearing up when the book is near the ending in my opinion. and Drave? really? that's all that it takes to shake the seraphim? it's too shallow for me. after all the Godslayer brings the bests of the bests to wake his city. I want to see the farajins' meticulous empowerment more, if not, what are their purpose?
nevertheless, that ending pinches me wide awake for I never thought about it before.
and yo! I don't ship Ruby and Feral. get out of my love diorama.
I also kinda think Lazlo and Sarai's love speeds up too fast. if the author could prolong Lazlo journey's peak into the last pages of 500 than she could do so with Lazlo and Sarai love life.

so, 4 godspawns!
