What a surprising find! I randomly selected this book from one of the My Little Libraries around the area. The author's name sounded familiar but I couldn't remember if I've actually read any of her books (I have). Big Stone Gap is the first in the series and I'm so glad that I unknowingly brought book one home. The setting came alive, the characters learned and grew through their life experiences, and the whole thing felt real. Rather than feeling as if this town could never exist, I read the book believing that I could just hop on a plane and visit Big Stone Gap myself. I am looking forward to reading book two.

This isn't my usual style of book bit it has a romance and it's set in the Blue Ridge Mountains, where I LIVE, so I read it on the recommendation of my aunt. It was so sweet! It's completely character focused but I loved Ave's journey of self discovery. Big Stone Gap was the cutest town with the funnest characters and the slow burn romance really burned (a sometimes frustrated me), but paid off in the end. I smiled and cried and had a great time.

A spinster deals with life.

It was really good. And (lol) I deeply related to her.

I am perplexed by this book. I don't know what to think.
