Fully enjoyed this story as an audiobook, read by the author!
Fun beach read-type book. Nothing awesome, but enjoyable.
Fun story, likable characters. I liked how it ended. :)
This was a nice book for the night but I won’t be continuing on with the series.
I will admit to skim reading parts of this book because I just liked certain characters or story arcs.

Probably closer to 3.75. Sometimes the right book comes along at just the right time. I truly enjoyed diving head first into the world of Big Stone Gap in the late 1970s and Trigiani's storytelling and narration were full of warmth and affection. I'm about the same age as Ave Maria and much of what she is struggling with are things that I too know all too well. I look forward to reading the other books in the series and I know that the characters and feelings this book evoked will stay with me for a long time to come.
There is something just so delightful about this novel. I've read it so many times over the years, and there is a comfort in the story, it's like a warm hug, that I just enjoy so much. There's a lot that happens in such a short book, but it flows so seamlessly that it doesn't feel like too much or choppy. It maintains its status as one of my all-time favorite books.
I enjoyed this book immensely. I learned about whole mountain towns of coal miners in Appalachia who had simply moved from Italy to the US for work. I initially thought this book would be about that. It wasn't quite that, but the characters were really great.
I loved this book! I can't believe that it took me 13 years to get around to reading this series. A heartwarming story.
This book started out slow, and picked up the pace a little bit, but it was just pretty steady and simple, and I loved it. I loved how flawed and real the main character/narrator of this story was. Yes it was a love story, but there was so much more to it than that. Each character was so fun to read about in this story that I see myself reading the sequel very soon. If you are looking for an easy read about charming, simple, southern characters, read this.
