I loved the unique storytelling style! Everything is revealed backwards, with the book starting at chapter 18 and showing flashbacks that led up to Julie being in Mexico.

I didn’t always like the writing style, it could get repetitive or overly descriptive at times. The reverse timeline style also made it confusing at times and led to the ending being less than exciting. Also due to the reverse storytelling, I felt like a lot was missing or unexplained. It left me with more questions than answers and a bit underwhelmed with the plot overall.

Despite the confusion and lack of details, it was still an interesting story! Plus it makes for a quick and easy read that I’d recommend if you enjoy Lockhart’s other novels, or if you’re looking for a uniquely written mystery.

This is my first book by this author and I must say I enjoyed her writing style and how she dives into her characters.
I liked how it was a fast paced thriller/ mystery and not a book I had to over think. The characters were diverse and took some figuring out (in a good way). I also enjoyed getting to read in reverse; as this book is written with the big “events” in the beginning and you read back in time to find out how everything came to be as it was.
The only cons for me was trying to remember that I was reading in reverse because sometimes you would forget and something would either not make sense (yet) or with the way they were segmented in time frames it was hard to realize things were not happening in real time. So settings and characters were hard to track for me.

I read this book when it first came out and it has been sat on my shelf since. I decided to pick it back up for a reread as I remember I enjoyed it but couldn't remember much about the storyline. I loved it just as much the 2nd time round, I'd forgotten all of the twists and turns and was enthralled by it! Such a cleverly written tbriller
