I think I have a new favorite author. Her books have very different settings, even though they are set in Colorado, or there abouts, and deal with women being there for one another. Even weak characters become strong when they find someone who cares.
This particular story deals with a mystery that isn't revealed until the very last line. When you finally realize what's been going on, you are hit with the understanding of the fierce loyalty of these women.

Nice story with a little mystery thrown in. I wanted to read it, as I went to school in Harveyville, KS, where the story takes place.
I enjoyed this read. It was a slice of life in a small town in Depression America. There is a "Bathsheba" who comes to town and stirs the pot that is the quilting guild of the town. There is a mystery too. I enjoyed reading about the women's friendship.

What a fun book! I loved those women and how they stood up for each other and showed true and loyal friendship to each other. They found what they had in common with each other and then their ages, circumstances and status didnt keep them from growing to be such tight friends. Feeling like a farm girl myself I loved how Queenie really was content and happy with her simple life.
3 and a half stars. I really had no idea what this book was going to be about, but it ended up really surprising me. Even halfway through I could have never guessed what the story was going to end up being about! Pretty interesting and entertaining, but not a favorite of mine.
