Kansas—The Persian Pickle Club. The absolute best part of this challenge has been getting to find books I otherwise never would have come across, and this was one of those. A delightful story of female friendship in the midst of the Great Depression in a small Kansas town. Set around their weekly quilting meetings, these women of all ages show up for one another, keep each other’s secrets, and always have each other’s backs. When a new girl comes to town trying to write a newspaper story about something the Persian Pickle Club is trying to keep a secret, well you see how they really come through to protect one another.

Story of a small-town quilting circle in depression-era Kansas.

Meh. Mildly interesting story, but the writing and tone just grated on me. It was compared to Fannie Flagg, but Flagg is far superior. Finished only because I was curious, but it was just trying too hard. None of it felt natural.

This was another book club book, and rather short, about a young woman in Kansas in the 1930s who is a member of a quilting club. The club is full of women and the story is full of them assisting one another in the form of food and quilting. There's a murder that goes on, and a cheesy surprise ending, and lots of "this is the country so everyone is going to talk like country people." It wasn't too bad.

I liked the story. I really liked Queenie. I didn't like Rita very much for most of the book. She just seemed sort of selfish. I liked her better by the end of the book, though. It loved that the book was set in the great depression era. An interesting portrayal. It made me want to try quilting, because they loved it so much. I am terrible at sewing in all forms. The whole murder thing threw me off, though.

I think this is my favorite Dallas book to date.

I enjoyed reading this book. The only thing was it was hard to get into in the beginning but the further I got the better the book got. It was a good short read.
