3/5 stars - No spice

Celebrity Chef Deacon Thorpe suddenly passes away suddenly, inspiring the gathering of his VERY complicated, sometimes scandalous family. He has had 3 wives, 3 kids from those 3 wives, friends, and many more friendly (or not) acquaintances on the island. Whatever could go wrong when the whole bunch gathers to spread his ashes and decide the fate of his beloved Nantucket home?!

Elin Hilderbrand is one of my absolute favorite authors to read in the summer. Her books just feel like sitting on the beach, soaking in the sun, making her the perfect summer author. Having read a LOT of her books in the past, this one fell a little flat for me. The story was still good, the characters were ok, the plot was unique. But it moved slower than her other stories and I found myself not connecting with or rooting for most of these people.

I would still recommend if you need a light, breezy summer read, but won't be my top Elin novel.
