Likes:
- Love the descriptions of magic and the use of the flowers and their meanings. I love symbolism of flowers so I thought that was unique
- Small town, sweet romance was giving hallmark
- Liked the bits of humor with the friends
- Decent plot twist that I didn’t see coming!
Dislikes:
- Fake dating is always low on my list of tropes because it sets up the real relationship to have a foundation of lies
- I don’t feel like the flashbacks really added much to the story. I either needed more or none at all
- So much missed connections, lies, missed opportunities. It was almost frustrating toward the end.

I really liked this book. Early on I had PTSD vibes about You deserve each other, which I did not like, but this book is different. This is a second chance romance and the characters grew on me, Alex is andorable desperately in love character and Romina while a little frustrating has had some tough life experiences. I think by far Trevor's comic relief is a nice dose in this book when some tough things are talked about. I almost hope there will be more books about Romina's sisters. Moonville is a lovely little town I'd love to explore more.
Graphic: Child abuse and Emotional abuse
Minor: Pregnancy

“It’s disorienting to see Alex this close again. The truth that years have passed in which I have no idea (designedly so) where he’s been, what he’s done, who he has become, is glaring. Every change is fascinating. Every similarity is an ache.”
I don’t know. I’ve always been down on second chance romance but a couple books lately are turning me around on the trope. This second chance romance is exquisite: hilarious, tender, tentative, gut wrenching in the years lost, full of pining, and unexpected.
Thrown together after years apart, Romina and Alex try their damndest to resist the pull of one another, but the story of how they give in is delightful, joyous, so very sweet, and mesmerizing.
I adore Sarah Hogle’s writing. It’s beautiful, evocative, funny, dear. I marked so many passages.
“We are a vast population of hurting hearts that miss people who haven’t come into our lives yet.”
“In recent years, I have transformed myself into a character from a Little Golden Book, a country mouse in a flower bonnet who drinks dew from acorn cups, enveloped in my cozy comforts. Which is precisely how I like it.”
“I hate how wildly out of control he makes me feel, and how unfair it is that I’ll never be able to look at him without the floor giving out from beneath me.”
“You know, it’s interesting, the situations we will tolerate for ourselves but would hate to watch our loved ones endure.”
“An intoxicating rush pounds through me, fading to gray, to quiet, to feel these arms, and these lips, right where they belong.”

I cannot read another 2nd chance book with an asshole who is pissed that his former partner has changed since in the years they were apart.
