A young girl explores a Japanese garden. 11 Haiku poems introduce the numbers between 1 - 10 and cycles back to one. After hosting Japan-in-a-Suitcase this was a wonderful surprise. A bit more information is provided in smaller type at the bottom of the page for those so inclined.

This book was beautifully written and each haiku introduces something new. I enjoyed reading it from cover to cover!

I could use this book to help students with counting, and also to introduce them to Haiku's.

A collection of haikus that features increasing numbers for counting/math skills and lovely sparse descriptions of the wind and a Japanese garden. Good for elementary-aged children.

This one was really unusual: a counting book set in a Japanese tea garden, written entirely in haiku! Delightful poetry and illustrations; overall marvelous.
