For me, this book was highly entertaining and I had a hard time to put it aside and pause when I had to sleep. Generally, I am very much into crime fiction with animal protagonists and the fact that in this book, the entire society consists of animals with no humans present made it even better.
The cover and setting gave me a slight Steampunk vibe although the story doesn't really feel set in an actual Steampunk world. The setting is still creative and somewhat unique.

I laughed quite a few times about character names and descriptions. The author made really entertaining choices concerning the variety of animals, their names and their characterisation. Although there are no humans in this book, the cast feels diverse and the society is a mirror of modern human societies and their issues.

In hindsight, the solution to the case was evident very early, but it still took me a while to figure it out.
I'm looking forward to reading the next book of the series. For me personally, it was a good read.
