This is such a cute and enjoyable story. It's not trying to be super complex and despite the enriching inclusion of some difficult themes (homophobia, transphobia, ableism, etc) it has a pretty rose-y attitude. I recommend it if you're looking for so.ething meaningful but light-hearted and sweet.

Like with the other stories in the “noahverse” a lot of character development happens off page. Things jump forward so quickly and that leaves much to be desired. The topics covered and the tropes used in the “noahverse” are all recycled quite a bit. The punk/rock friend who has a friend that hates that music. The nerdiness, especially marvel and Star Trek. The over use of the f slur both by bullies and the characters towards themselves. 
Write what you know, but the repetitive nature of it is a bit much.

It was decent in the beginning, but the inconsistent handling of Skylar's communication as a non-speaking character was frustrating.  
In the first half of the book Skylar mainly uses text to speech, but in the second half he shifts to more lip reading with some signing. The lip reading overrepresents how much you can understand from lip reading, particularly in low lighting. The lack of specificity of sign language was also frustrating - ASL uses a different grammatical structure than english, yet the characters would mouth english words at the same time as signing, implying they are using english sentence structure. Based on the acknowledgements, the author is not non-speaking, so I'd say more detailed research was needed to more accurately represent communicating as a nonspeaking person. 

Ultimately, it was a cute gay YA book but it felt unpolished and rushed at times. The great parts of the book were overshadowed by rushed portions (and the communication stuff mentioned earlier). I did appreciate the realism of conservative US in the 2020s.

The way this book is described you'd think it wouldn't be about a dress code, but it is. Sky is a boy who happens to like to wear dresses. Jacob's father is ultra-religious and on the school broad and decides that he wants to push through a dress code to ban boys from wearing skirts and dresses. BUT most of the story isn't about the dress code, it's about Sky and Jacob falling in love which is fine, but at the same time I was hoping for more of a fight. 

The story is good, but the main issue that the story is trying to tell us from the summery is the B-plot of the whole story. There were many chapters (written as days) that would happen before there was a mention of the dress code issue. And while yes you can't write a WHOLE story about a dress code and how it's wrong to force people to wear clothes they don't want, it felt like the story was suppose to be about it because it's mentioned in the summary.

While this is a cute love story, and I loved the inclusion in it, I felt like the summary can be misleading.

I love the way Jordon wrote the whole story about this book. This is cute, sweet yet funny. And most of all, we have pansexual rep in this book which I love! Thank you. I read the beginning of this pretty designed book. I love all of the aspects. 

This book is somehow heartwarming with a simple high school story thing. I love how the issues captured as the story goes.

⚠️SPOILERS AHEAD⚠️ I hate it when Jacob's dad Bruce are so self-centered, indoctrinated, toxic and act like a dictator over the A.L. Brown and the way his son expressed himself. Like, he's still his son even he's painting his nails or wearing a dress or a skirt. And it's okay though for me personally. I just didn't like the way Bruce saw the way he forbid Jacob to be himself as 'love'. That's not love. Love for me is the way someone who can accept each other... whether for their strenghts and flaws without condition. Glad that in the end Pastor Dane is standing up for Skylar (and all of the boys who felt opressed because they're unique). And Skylar Gray. He is perfect for Jacob Walters. He makes Jacob more vulnerable about himself and certain that Skylar is the one for him. And also, I love that finally Seth and Imani kissed at the end.
