This was just ok. I found the story strange but also put it off to my inability to stay focused. I also wanted to read this series and assumed I needed to start with "A". Hopefully B is for bettter.

I honestly am not entirely sure I’ve ever given a one star rating, but honestly, this book just… was not good for me. I didn’t really like it at all. The narrator was not likable at all (in a bad way), and everything in the plot was so far fetched, including the solving of the mystery, which was pretty much pulled out of thin air. Also, this book leaned heavily on the words “sexual” and “sensual” in inappropriate contexts, and far too often (a 10-year-old Deaf boy?? Um, what??). I just honestly thought this book was super boring, super far fetched, and I just wasn’t intrigued in the slightest.

An 80s take on the hardboiled detective from a woman's lens. Wanted to check out Sue Grafton's A is for Alibi after learning that she is a frequently-appeared-author in crossword puzzles. This book is from the 80s and parts of it have not aged well, such as her comments about other women's bodies. But other aspects still stand up well, such as the way Kinsey elevates aspects that are particular to the women in the story. The whodunnit of this mystery sort of lost me and I was reading/listening to get the book over by the end but glad I checked it out.

I know this series is incredibly well known, but the writing was atrocious. A chapter ends with the sentence: I blew him away. The book was riddled with sentences like that. Honestly it wasn’t done well at all.
