Such an odd little book, but I absolutely adored it. Very whimsical, but in a dark & twisty way. I’m excited to read about more of the Wayward Children

This book is just WOW!✨
It was so special, I love the whole concept, can’t wait to read the other books in this series!
If You would like to read something magical, I really recommend to read this!

I wasn't really planning on ever reading this book but it was on my online library when I was looking for audiobooks to try so I went for it and it really surprised me!

I wouldn't say I'm in love with this book but the characters were good and the concept was really interesting. it was nice and quick which I always appreciate.

It felt sort of disjointed at points when the plot suddenly shifted or when too much time was spent on one event but overall I really enjoyed this! no thanks to the kids on the train who kept shOUTING NEXT TO MY HEAD

Wonderful characters and a thoughtful premise. One of the most interesting things for me was the way that each world pulled each character in because he or she fit better there. And the worlds weren't always nice places - and yet every child wanted to return to them. Cynthia Hopkins' narration was excellent. It was also a very quick read.

It’s like a psych ward/ boarding school for magical children who were forced to leave their personal fantasy worlds and are now stuck in the real world, and long to go back.. plus murder mystery AND trans/asexual representation :)
I love the lyricism in the prose and the magical realism, it’s also a huge series with 10+ books which, tbh, I had no idea I was signing up for.. oops
Onto book two

Stunning worldbuilding. Never feels infodump-y. Brilliant and diverse characters with a connecting undercurrent of macabre, deep longing.
