If I had found this book when I was younger, it would have become my entire personality.

This isn’t my usual book, but I enjoyed it very much. McGuire has a lovely way of turning a phrase, which makes for delightful reading. The story is touching and emotional, and while a little bit dark for my usual tastes, still kept me reading so that I finished it in a day. I’ll almost certainly read the rest of the series at some point. The one quibble I have is that sometimes the point of view shifts unexpectedly, so that you realize you’re now in someone else’s head, which is a bit jarring. But, again, that’s a minor point, and more than made up for by the rest of the book. Note: despite the fact that this is a short, fast read featuring children, it probably shouldn’t be considered a young adult book, unless you’re sure those young adults are very comfortable with dark themes, death, gore, torture, etc.

This book was so beautiful. I really related with Nancy and for some reason this book brought me to tears twice. I'm not even sure why. I'm just speechless and astounded. I need to collect my thoughts.

I would rate this 5 out of 5 stars. Grade: A+

A short, fun, engaging read. I have some grievances with the sudden way that it ended, but overall I enjoyed it quite a bit and plan to read the others.
