This is a collection of six novelettes featuring a ghost hunter named Carnacki. Carnacki is very competent at his job; he goes into each case with an open mind, and strives to eliminate any natural explanation before turning to supernatural explanations. In fact, several of these tales end with Carnacki uncovering scams by greedy or jealous individuals who are trying to scare someone for profit or some such. Carnacki uses the then fairly new technology of photography to help uncover the truth. Although perhaps a bit tame by today's standards, these stories are entertaining and I'm surprised they have not been adapted into film or TV.

The fore-runner of Scooby-doo, without the dog and those meddling kids. Ripping Edwardian tosh.

Good collection of short stories, which largely avoid Hodgson's worst habits as an author. Full review: https://fakegeekboy.wordpress.com/2007/10/02/wordsworth-the-horror-finder/
