Continuing this series, I knew that I wasn’t just getting a straightforward story about marriage and second chances—I got something that was much darker and more complicated. I’m still not sure how I feel about it, to be honest.
Ainsley’s journey was what kept me reading. Finding out her husband had been hiding such a disturbing secret could’ve broken her completely—but instead, she leans into it. That threw me at first. I kept asking myself, “How could she be okay with this?” But somehow, she is. She doesn't just forgive him—she WANTS to be part of it. That shift felt unsettling, but also fascinating in a way I didn’t expect.
I think what made it believable, at least somewhat, is how much Ainsley craved connection. It’s like, once the shock wore off, she realized that knowing the truth—no matter how dark—finally meant being truly close to him. She just wanted to stop being left out, even if that meant stepping into something she never imagined. I’m not sure I’d make the same choice, but I understood it.
That said, the pacing dragged in places, and I wish we got more of Ainsley’s internal conflict before she made her decision. Her emotional shift felt a bit too easy.
