Great book. I unfortunately watched the movie first which mostly ruined Robert C. O'Brien's story so don't waste your time with the movie. This is a wonderful book that I will one day move from my bookcase to my son's bookcase when he's old enough to read. Easy 5 star.

This was recommended to me by a co-worker. I enjoyed the Secret of NIHM movie and only recently learned that it was based on a book.
Now that I've read it (well listened to it) I have to say.... I liked the movie more.
The book is fine. The story is interesting. I liked the characters.
It doesn't have any of the fantasy/magic elements that were added for the movie, which is some of the things I really liked about the movie.
The narration by Barbara Caruso was excellent. I would rate this closer to 3.5, but I don't think it's up to 4 stars by my standards.

I remember this book be fantastic as a kid, so I reread it to go back into my childhood memories and it didn't feel the same. The Book felt slow. I still really like the rats and the story behind the rats, but moving the house felt so boring.
