Okay, okay, consider me a little more hooked than I anticipated.

Marked is about a society of people with supernatural/paranormal abilities that become amplified/usable once they get marked—aka tatted—with their glyph. In issue #1 we saw Saskia join the Marked and she made quick friends with Liza, who had been experimenting on some new hybrid magic tech and accidentally made Saskia blind.

Oops that's a bummer for Saskia. She just wanted a friend :(

In issue #2, we spend most of our time with Liza who has been picked up by the military after being kicked out of the secret society and is now honing her tech for some a**hole who likes to experiment on puppies. Liza is clearly now on team-bad guy, which is a bummer cuz I’m pretty sure she is an impressionable teen who didn’t mean to do any wrong...

It’s only issue #2, but I think The Marked shows promise. The powers are intriguing (and beautiful thanks to Haberlin!) and the characters are easy to love/hate. Gonna keep reading. Kinda bummed I can’t start #3 already actually...

"They say that power corrupts. ‘They’ are usually referring to political and monetary power, but The Marked has proven that magic can corrupt just as easily. Liza is a woman unafraid to experiment in her magic, as evidenced by The Marked #2.

The last issue introduced us to a world that contains magic – albeit it is all run by an organization that does it’s best to keep it a secret. Now we get to dive into the depths and see how far one outcast is willing to go to get what she wants.

Magic is a powerful force, one to be reckoned with. But there’s a reason that The Marked exists as a secret society, and why they’ve done so much to keep it out of the hands of the government. And that means we’re on a collision course for something violent."

This issue focuses on Liza mainly and we see that she is only interested in self gain. We also get to see inside the government organisation Stargate.
