I never marathon book series but I read the whole thing in a month. This book, and the series as a whole, deserves nothing short of 5 stars and all the recognition and prestige it has been getting.
This book made me feel such sadness, melancholy and despair for not only the characters but the world and, in effect, our own world. This story is a scary reminder that if we continue to take and take and not give back we to will slowly but surely suffer a fate much like those in the book. The way this story is woven together over the whole 3 novels blew my mind and I was still left guessing right up until the final pages.

I say I don't like books written in second person and this series continues to prove me wrong. I had a lot of stops and starts with this one which is why it took longer than usual. Not the book, my life was just getting in the way. I didn't feel I gave it my full attention and it deserves that, I will hopefully come back to this tho.
I still loved it, I will likely rate it higher on a reread. Had me crying a bunch tho, damn. I really cared for these characters and even the new ones I grew to love very quickly.
I have one gripe, and I'm sorry. Why was magic just called "magic". I liked "the silver" that was cool and a good visual word for it, but just "magic" somehow took me out of the book often. Orogeny gets its own word but "magic" doesn't? Idk maybe I'm missing something here, I just don't love it.
Will highly recommend this series to everyone I meet now 🫡

4.5. What a great series with wonderful world building and very well fleshed out characters. Loved it!
