It was so good. So many thoughts.

I definitely enjoyed Stone Sky more than I did Obelisk Gate, although maybe the same as I enjoyed Fifth Season. I actually liked this one for a lot of the reasons I liked Fifth Season best previously, which is that we actually get some answers to all the questions we have, loose ends start to wrap up, and some fun plot twists are revealed. I adored Hoa's chapters, and I'm really glad we got to learn more about the origin story of The Stillness, as that had been incredibly vague up to this point, and we also see some very meaningful commentary on the nature of oppression and fear.

Overall, this book was incredible and did a very good job of wrapping up this trilogy.

This was the epic conclusion to one of the best trilogy I have ever read. Please read these books, you will not be disappointed.

Speechless. Such incredible storytelling. How rare is it to find a book series to receive 5 stars all the way through?

If you’re looking for a compelling scifi/fantasy book series, you should definitely pick this one up. Impactful all the way through.

I Kinda feel like i immediately want to start re-reading the series because 1. It is brilliant, and 2. Im sure there are so many hints and clear i would notice that flew by me in the first reading. At least I figured out that Hoa was telling Essun the story because she was turned to a stone eater 😎 (but I missed most other clues...)

This whole trilogy is fantastic and heartbreaking. I really appreciate the whole messaging about empire and societies built on the suffering of others never being able to last, it feels more relevant than ever, and I also love the way the whole series has this undercurrent of hope running through it even as it is incredibly bleak. I will admit, I was a bit underwhelmed by this book compared to the other two books in the series, partly, because I saw the ending coming. But I still really enjoyed this book a lot and I think this whole series has been cemented as some of my favorite books of all time

"When we say that “the world has ended,” remember – it is usually a lie. The planet is just fine." - NK Jemisin

Now that is how you end an epic trilogy! The Stone Sky, like the previous two books in The Broken Earth series by N.K. Jemisin, was phenomenal. I loved the plot and the writing continued to be unlike anything I've ever read before. Such unique and unusual concepts! I found myself slightly confused by all the magic but it also didn't matter, the book is that good. I could easily infer the intended ideas in Jemisin's writing.

The climax was exciting, gripping, and led to a beautiful and satisfying conclusion. I enjoyed the characters and all their flaws. The world building is extensive and extremely interesting. I wanted to know more about this place Jemisin created. But I also really liked how she hinted at events and motives without being explicit in the description of them. I enjoyed figuring things out as I read.

This trilogy was truly a masterpiece in the sci-fi/fantasy genre and I understand now why all three won Hugo Awards. Well worth reading. I thoroughly enjoyed every page.
