You can really tell that Carrie is Stephen King’s first novel. It’s really hard to follow and he adds scenes that do absolutely nothing to the story or plot. There’s parts I like but was really bored in general.

It was good, unfortunately I already knew the story before reading it (who doesn’t know Carrie White?). That being said I was curious to see if I liked Kings novel’s as much as the movie versions, safe to say I’ll stick to the screen. Stephen King is not something one can read on a casual Sunday, it requires concentration and a crazy high vocabulary.

so when reading this book, the constant use of asides and parentheses in the middle of the narration got to be exhausting after a while

although the reports and excerpts from books supposedly written about TK after the affair interspersed within the story of Prom Night
(clever that was very clever)
was a unique way of imbuing Carrie’s tale with realism. i did find, however, King often runs away with his
prose to the point of incoherence, and i don’t think it always achieved the artistic vibe he was aiming for with this.

I wasn't that impressed with the oh so famous "Carrie". I was hoping for a little more from Stephen King, perhaps because this book was built up so much for me and I felt let down.
