Decided to give this a chance despite the cover & pleasantly surprised! I love the writing so much. It’s not perfect but the love between the two mates and ridge words is so poetic even with the way he’s so obsessed! Will be reading more from this author
I'm on the hunt for a romantasy that is substantial in plot as well as spice, but this wasn't it. It's probably one of my favorite spicies, but I wish it had more oomph with the story. All that said, I loved the sexy cannibalism.
I don’t know what I was expecting going into this. I feel like it was very different from what I was used to. This book was dark and chaotic and surprisingly had some really sad and heartfelt moments. Each of the characters just felt so tormented by what they were given until Sadie found the brothers. She completed their lives in a way that she never expected and she finally found the love of someone. Ridge found his match, his mate, and he learned to fight for something. And Wright, he learned to love again and he didn’t have to babysit his brother anymore. He was able to find himself after all of his own loss.
Although I read the trigger warnings, I was still not fully prepared for how this story was going to go. It was gruesome, bloody, super rough, and just not my cup of tea. I’m not down for quite a bit of what happened in this story, but I loved that they found love and that it was a HEA. I loved Wright’s premonition or whatever of his brother’s future and I loved that he found love as well. I also love that they really fought for Sadie. Overall, I wouldn’t recommend this to everyone because of how dark it was. But I know there’s a fan base out there for this kind of spicy dark thriller.

TESO is everything my dark little heart could possibly want in a book. It’s the beauty in the darkness. It’s the blood soaked sexiness. It’s the masterful prose of literary horror that only Shiloh can give you. To say I’m obsessed is not enough. This book obliterated me in the best ways! It won’t be for every one because it’s f***ed up but it’s perfect for me! LOVED!

I really did not like this book. Should have DNF'ed it. It was really great until about the 30% mark then the entire book lost the plot and turned into nothing but erotica. The plot seemed like an afterthought. I skimmed the rest hoping that the end of the book would have made it worth reading, but the ending was just as awful. Not entirely sure why this has such high ratings.
HOLY SHIT
WOW

I rated it a 3/5 at first but this book has been on my mind for a couple days now since i finished it and i realised i am actually obsessed with it so im giving it a 4.5/5. I have a major book hangover.
The concept of the book alone is really cool. Sadie is dead at the start of the book but the devil offers her a deal. She gets to live if she finds an evil soul to replace her within a month. She accepts the offer, and of course she immediately finds a serial killer and then falls in love with him lmao
I am new to the genre (spice and romance) and was looking for a kinky, dark romance. I read a couple recommended books and they did not quite scratch my itch ([b:Lothaire|10790516|Lothaire (Immortals After Dark, #11)|Kresley Cole|https://i.gr-assets.com/images/S/compressed.photo.goodreads.com/books/1366322959l/10790516._SY75_.jpg|15702803] and [b:Butcher & Blackbird|196864520|Butcher & Blackbird (The Ruinous Love Trilogy, #1)|Brynne Weaver|https://i.gr-assets.com/images/S/compressed.photo.goodreads.com/books/1692083376l/196864520._SY75_.jpg|148641851]). But Shiloh Sloane really nailed it with this one. This book is dark. Like actually dark. And really, really hot.
On top of that it is also very well written. I found myself constantly highlighting lines that really captivated me.
The spice is a solid 5/5. Ridge is hot as fuck.

I also discovered things that I didnt like, which is a good thing! Cos that just means I'm learning things about myself :D I can confirm that I definitely do not have a breeding kink! Any time the MMC mentions babies during a spicy scene it just takes me out of it lol, but i also understand that that is usually a pretty big part of the omegaverse genre. So its definitely not a bad thing, just not my thing.
I also have issues with Sadie. Sometimes i wanna slap her in the face and shake her like a doll because babygirl needs to wake up. she is very gentle but also clearly has a darker side because she falls in love with a serial killer. I wish we got to see more of her darker aspects, because tbh shes kinda boring and annoying. spoiler:
also, why didnt she just kill the pastor and his brother? are we just gonna ignore that? did i miss something?
I also enjoyed the first half a bit more than the second half. i did not really like the new direction the plot was heading to towards the end. Ending spoiler:
Wright is super interesting and has a lot of depth. there were moments where i wished Ridge had emotional moments like Wright does, because Wright has a lot of chemistry with the FMC.
during every fucked up sex scene i thought 'oh no i hope this doesnt awaken anything in me' and now i need therapy :DDDD thanks shiloh!!

even though she is head over heels for Ridge, she just refuses to kill anyone?? because shes too goody two shoes ig?? she is OBSESSED with this guy and still she's like 'lol guess ill die' NO GIRL IF YOU WANT THAT WEREWOLF DICK AND HIS WEREWOLF PUPPIES YOU GOTTA WORK FOR IT FFS. i also high key wanted her to kill a person together with ridge. it wouldve been hot.also, why didnt she just kill the pastor and his brother? are we just gonna ignore that? did i miss something?

i would have preferred a more tragic ending. Everyone lives at the end and because the book has such a dark theme i think a sad ending would have been more appropriate. but i guess im just also not into throuples and the fact that she also falls in love with wright really did throw me off. i liked that he sacrificed himself, and even though he's great i was looking forward to him dying tragically lolWright is super interesting and has a lot of depth. there were moments where i wished Ridge had emotional moments like Wright does, because Wright has a lot of chemistry with the FMC.

I loved this so much more than I thought I would. It’s all gore and passion and damnation and salvation and blaspheme and LOVE in all capital letters through flaws and trauma. The prose is surprisingly gorgeous and not what I was expecting from this genre. Now I’m afraid I’ll never find another paranormal dark romance like this. My only beef with this story and what keeps me closer to 4 than 5 stars is how it’s told from a third person perspective but the men got so much more complex treatment from the author that Sadie ended up feeling flat as a character, almost like just a mechanism for Ridge’s and Wright’s development.
