Honestly I barely remember what happened in the books before this. It's been too long since Unbecoming (which I read when it first came out) and Evolution (which I also read when it first came out). I just...I was so confused man. I felt like I was being stuffed full of plot contrivances each time I opened the book and I couldn't help snorting every fifty pages or so and yelling "OH, BULLSHIT."

fffffffFUCK man I used to be really excited to find out what was happened but now I just feel like I got cheated.

Okay there's one reason it's 4 stars rather than 3 or 2, because I was close. Usually, this would be a reason I would chuck a book across the room and yell "BULLSHIT" again and that's CHANGING POV. I fucking hate it when authors change points of view if that hasn't been something they've been doing from the beginning, you know? BUT SHIT this changed my mind. Noah's POV brought fresh blood into the deoxygenated husk of what this idea used to be for the last third of the book and when I first saw we were going to be reading from his POV I did groan, but it made things much more exciting and fresh.

That alone would have brought it up to a solid 3, but what brought it to a 4 was the fact that they switching POV rapidly during the sex scene. Yes. That made my perverted self like this book (and LOVE that part). Deal with it, sex scenes are awesome when you get to read them from two points of view BOOM

This is the point at which I realize this will be posted on my Facebook and everyone will be able to see that paragraph up there. Oh well.

This last book was a gyp. I was hoping with the push that Michelle was spending more time on writing it, but nyehhhh it was honestly the worst of the three and it was a total downhill fall from the first book once being one of my favorite books to the second book being okay to this last book just...falling flat on its face instead of delivering what should have felt like genius, sharp punches with each plot point and rather shitting itself in the big reveal.

Sigh.

¡Dios!

No estoy roto”

lol I'm such a black sheep with this series. but I'm sorry this last one was my least fave. firstly I had zero attachment to the characters esp Mara. i did NOT care about her at all and she honestly felt so inconsistent. not even bc she's an unreliable narrator bc let's be real she's really not. i feel like this series is made out to be like this huge twisty mysterious series but it's NOT EVEN THAT CRAZY. this last book esp I feel like there was interesting reveals but not enough happened....? the ending annoyed me too actually. I feel like I kinda bought into Noah and Mara's love a bit in the first but then after that I feel like I'm just being TOLD they have this huge epic love. i honestly didn't see it and didn't believe it and just didn't. care. at. all.

sorry for the rant but yeah. sorely disappointed.

So so so good! Scared the freakin' glitter out of me but, I loved it! Pages 444 through 458 will make you see
SpoilerYA sex scenes in a different light.
Ms. Hodkin's game is right up there with Mrs. Mafi's. This series is worth reading people.

Though I didn't like this book as much as the others in this trilogy, I still fairly liked quite a few aspects of it.

what i liked

  • The changes between before and after. I know that a lot of people didn't like that there were time switches throughout the book, but I found that they really added to the story.

  • Hodkin's writing style. Her writing is always so great, and it's stayed that way ever since The Unbecoming of Mara Dyer.

  • NOAH. I literally love him, and I'm so excited that he has his own book series now. He's literally the best book boyfriend a girl could ask for, and I love his relationship with Mara.

  • Jamie. I always loved his character, and this book was no exception. He provides so much humor, even in the darkest of times.

what i didn't like

  • This book was so much slower than the other books in the series. I feel like the most stuff happened at the end, while the rest was all pretty slow. I felt like the beginning and middle of the story dragged on forever. I'm not sure if other people felt this way, but compared to the other novels, this one definitely didn't have as much action.

  • The ending. I don't want to get to spoilery, but there was a part at the end that didn't make much sense to me, regarding death... like why was it even necessary? Oh yeah, it wasn't.

Despite this being my least favorite of the series, I still recommend checking it out! I think it provided a nice conclusion the series.

I was really surprised with this series as at first I heard bad reviews of this series but I'm actually pleasantly surprised by it. I really enjoyed all the creepy and dark scenes with Mara in this book and you could really see the change that she went through because she was not the same character as she was in the first book. I just didn't like how they kept running around trying to find Noah which could have been shortened a lot. Jamie was hilarious! I really liked the happy ending but now I want to know what is going to happen to Mara as she has killed and that has traumatised her so will she kill again or not? And I wanted more scenes with her and Noah it wasn't enough!
