Plot synopsis
The epic conclusion to the 'Mara dyer' series; Mara wants answers and boy, does she get them.

Thoughts on the Book

The only thing that's stopping me from giving it five stars was the ending, all I'll say here is I felt that it was very 'Unmaraish' However I do like the fact that this series promotes self-acceptance, something that I feel a lot of teenagers need to be exposed to. I also like the fact that Hopkins gives Jude a very complex back story that encourages people not to judge others at face value
I loved the use of pop culture within this book as well as the use of philosophers such as Kant (Google it, the guy is really interesting).

Thoughts on the Series in General
I would recommend this series in general but i think it would be a great gateway to paranormal thrillers for teens!

This series has been consistently thrilling, page turning, and unpredictable throughout. Despite my cheating and reading the ending of the book when I started the first book, I still didn't know how it got to the ending so I had to read to the end of the series to find out what happened. I think the ending is just as cryptic as the entire story.

I went to a book signing with this author, my first, before this series ever came out and the story she told about what inspired the series was very eerie. A building collapse, a girl that survived who shouldn't have. Very similar. I don't know any more than that but they wanted Michelle Hodkin to help them. She was/is a lawyer. Now I don't know what transpired, but you know "there are more things on heaven and earth" than we will ever known. Very, very thought provoking.

I had to look and see what Michelle Hodkin was doing now or if she had pulled a "Twilight" on us. Nope, she's got a book in the works and I cannot wait for her to release it! This book was very technical but not in a gadget kind of way. The science of it had to be really thought out. And the way things circle back to the first book, the planning it took, I loved the planning and intelligence it assumes the reader has. It's definitely up there with a favorite series. The romance is not sickly sweet. And that ending, it is the beginning of something. Personally, I'd love another three books to see how Mara fares in this new life. Excellent reading!

"You are a girl, Mara. A girl blessed and cursed."

Unbelievably good. This one made my heart pound, my jaw drop and my heart hurt. There are so many surprises and turns and secrets revealed that I literally spent most of this book with my mouth open in shock.

This is it. The final conclusion. Mara and all the answers. Who survives and who doesn't and who needs to die for a greater good. Don't read any spoilers and don't get any hints.
Just let this one startle you. It's so worth it!!

And in the end, you never know who is the good guy and who is the bad. This book makes a great point. you can be given a good thing but make bad choices with it, and you can be given evil but still use it for good.

so here we are.

"It was just us. Two people and a choice."

Don't worry. I think you'll love it too.

I honestly wasn't a huge fan of the first two books, but this one made up for it. When I finally picked it up I couldn't put it down. The ending was a really good and kept me on the edge of my seat. I do wish Noah was in it more strictly for his sass.

I was very disappointed with the lack of Noah Shaw, but I can't lie and say that the majority of the book without him was bad. All of the chapters with Mara, Jamie, and Stella had me at the edge of my seat. This book was CREEPY. I think the ending wasn't exactly a resolution? I enjoyed this book, but not as much as the previous two.

Excellent conclusion to this epic series! I really wasn't sure how everything would wrap up but it was satisfying and nicely done.

Amazing. I usually never finish series, but I read all 1,500 pages in less than 24 hours. Idk how. I refuse to read the spin off series since it doesn’t have an ending.

Okay, so I know that a lot of people were disappointed with this book, and that they didn't think it was as good as the first two, blahblahblah, but I personally really liked it. It was not as good as Unbecoming or Evolution, but it was still really good, and I love Michelle's writing and I cannot WAIT to see what books she has planned for the future.

The first few chapters were kind of confusing but that was really because Mara was confused. The pace after that was good until after the fisherman pick them up; and while it wasn't terrible or boring during the whole road trip thing, it was worrisome and intense because I mean Rape Man (i don't really think that bit was necessary but) & Mara almost being pregnant & the parent stuff always make me cringe idk. I always get cringy during parent things in books idek.

But you def knew things were gettin heated when Lukumi showed up at the train station. & SOME TAXY STUFF YEAHH.
Also, I would just like to say I completely knew it was Daniel with the whole key/professor-at-NYU-thing I mean as soon as they said literature dept or whatever I was like uhm friends duh ????

bUT I FREAKING LOVE THE WHOLE FELLOWSHIP THING W/ MARA/DANIEL/STELLA/JAMIE LIKE LIFEEEEEEEE

can I just say though it crushed me when Stella left. I FREAKING LOVE HER. & I thought maybe she would be back for the end but noooooo.

the bits with Mara's grandmother were interesting. all that India stuff last book was really confusing so I was glad this ended up making sense. also uhm ok I did not see the bit with the professor being Mara's grandfather coming ??? that was a little weird. especially with him seeing it coming & using it as a tool. that was odd. very. im sorry.

The Noah's father thing was weird. I don't know. That whole part killed me though I mean litERALLY CAN'TTT. LIKE I LITERALLY CANNOT FUNCTION WORDS TO SPEAK OF IT.

BUT NOAH
BABYYY
CHILDDDD

although I have to say when I was a terrible person & skimmed ahead & saw there were going to be Noah POVs I got really puMped but I honestly didn't like Noah's perspectives; they just didn't seem Noah-y enough. idk. that's just my opinion. I mean obviously this whole review is my opinion but I mean

also, there really wasn't a lot of Mara x Noah in this book. which made me really sad. I mean, obviously Noah didn't show up until the last fourth or so of the book but sERIOSULU//;.,. There was just a lot more cutes-y stuff with them in 1 and 2. That is honestly the only severe complaint I had with this.

CHAPTER 73 THOUGH

ok but I feel like I am not speaking enough about Jamie. Jamie is love/life I mean dArLING

overall, I think this book had a much different feel than its predecessors. But I liked it. I feel like it wasn't as shrouded in mystery which gave it less of a dark element but it was still good. It was also really interesting to see all these loose ends tied up. I think Michelle did a really great job with that. I can think of a lot of authors that create tiny subplots they never do anything about, but this series had a really great wrap up. I'm glad it ended happily. I think Mara & Noah deserved that. & wow. I feel like I need to reread the first two books now just for the heck of it. This series is just really beautiful ok.

#ReviewsByLaur

am sad because the series is over and because i never found out her real name, from the first page of the first book thats all i wanted

Really amazing book. Can't wait to read Noah's side.
