This was not for me at all. The only reason I finished this was because I listened to it and was able to put it at 3x speed and just do other things while it played in the background. I found this to be one of the most boring books I have read in awhile. Not at all a fan.

I so badly wanted to love this book. I was drawn in by the themes of witchcraft meets women’s suffrage, sisterhood, and motherhood.  I unfortunately had a really hard time pushing through it and never found myself on the edge of my seat wanting more. I enjoyed the writing and the book has so many really great quotes. I was also definitely invested in the main characters. The story tale retellings were also fun. The plot had many moments of greatness, but where it fell short for me was the stringing together of the storyline as a greater whole. I felt a bit jarred around and couldn’t catch-on to the flow of the story. It might have been better for me if it were split into two books. Otherwise, maybe it was trying to fit too many themes and events and characters into the story.
I was bummed that the women's suffrage ladies didn’t have more development. It seemed like it was such a focus at the beginning, but then just trickled off. I was waiting for the “payoff” of learning so much about them and their flaws.

I adored this book; it's descriptions of locations and emotions are rich and believable, the character development is well-written and paced even without the supernatural plot themes, and there are so many brilliant lines I wish I'd copied out. And its diverse cast includes LGBTQ+ characters whose inclusion felt as natural as any  character should feel. Makes you proud to identify as female but does not push down the work done by male-identifying characters. And the ending twist was a heart-breaking surprise but I loved it.
