I have very mixed feelings about this book. There’s some wonderful prose and the storytelling is compelling. I laud the author for writing about desire (in Lina’s story) so bluntly and accurately. But I was let down by the narrow POVs included here, and I feel there was a disservice done in not diving deeper into the nexus of one’s actual desire vs. being the tool with which the patriarchy wields and welds its own fantasies. Gonna have to come back to this review later, after I’ve had time to digest it.
