I’m in love with this book.
Shae has left an abusive marriage and now has sole custody of her daughters.  Now a single mother trying to rebuild, start over and move on.
Nick is a single dad, who runs a Christmas tree farm.

This is honestly such a heart warming story of change, grow, new beginnings. How Shae opens up to Nick and slowly starts trusting him. Nick never once forces or rushes Shae. The way Nick steps up to help, even when Shae doesn’t want to admit she wants it AND the fact that he takes her little girls and treats them like his own.

The ending with him and Shae’s girls was so so sweet, I just wish there was an extended epilogue to see what they planned (IYKYK) and to see Shae’s reaction.

Possible triggers:  mention of DV from Shae’s ex husband.

I’m sorry but Shae was insufferable. I’d also like to start a formal petition to ban the “she came while they were fully clothed and dry humping” trope. Stop trying to make fetch happen. It’s not going to happen

Super cozy read and the author is upfront about it. I loved how Nick fell for Shae and her girls and how he wasn’t deterred by Shae trying to self-sabotage their relationship before it even got started.

When Nick's son Connor brings his Tinder date Shae, to Thanksgiving dinner with her two daughters, she is not what Nick expected. He sees that Connor and Shae are just friends, and Shae is beautiful. She is fresh off a divorce to her abusive ex husband, and she is just trying to survive. So when Nick mentions the elf on the shelf to her daughters, she could kill him for putting something else on her plate. So the Christmas tree farmer takes it upon himself to drive an hour each way every night to move the elf. Eventually Shae softens, and they grow closer. How can Nick convince Shae that he is all in?

What I liked: NICK. Nick is perfection. I'm not usually the farmer/cowboy type, but I would be into it for Nick. He knows all the right things to say and do, and is the perfect man for Shae. I love myself a morally gray man, but didn't realize I'd like a morally sound cowboy! The spice and romance in this book is top notch.

What I didn't like: That Nick is not real. Its not fair.

I think this might become a yearly re-read for me at Christmas time. This is like a Hallmark movie if it had spice. It's perfect. I love it!

I read an epub of this and it still had edit notes in it lol

A spicy holiday read!

This book was sweet and fun with a good amount of spice! I loved the ending, and the way Shae's anxiety and trauma was written was very relatable!
