I DNFed the first book of the 7 sisters series, but I thought a mystery by the same author would be more to my taste, and it was.
While I was moving to a different flat and was tired to the bone by carrying heavy boxes and furniture, this novel was good to come black to in the evening. An accident happened in a school, but was it really an accident or was it murder ? Is it related to another death that happened years ago ? I mostly enjoyed this book and found it relaxing, enjoying it with a nice cup of tea.
However, I generally appreciated the main female character but not her sentimental life and reactions. I also thought she relied a bit too much on instinct, even if, of course, it worked for the case. The novel would have obtained a higher rating without that.

Read September 2025
Ugh, this was just so clunky... It read like a bad first draft (which, let’s be honest, it might have been considering it was written in like 2006, or so, and then published in 2022, with minimal editing, after the author passed away the year before.)
Also, I’m always surprised when there’s this much sexism in a novel written by a woman (though granted, it was written many years ago) Oh, and of course the gay teacher sexually assaults a student.. Should have just DNFed this to be honest.

Leuke, relaxte detective.

I soft DNF it a while ago as I couldn’t get into it at halfway mark and picked it up again now. I was hooked at the beginning but that fizzled out later. Second half way not as good as the first half.

This was my first book by Lucinda Riley. I enjoyed it from start to finish. I never thought I would like it so much, highly recommended.
