Really makes you think just how pervasive and banal misogyny is. A man has sex with an enslaved woman who gets impregnated, who then leaves her child to be raised by said man, then the child grows up into a creep and abuser who enslaves a woman to bring her as a present to another girl so that she (who has no interest in him) marries him. Oh, and his slave falls in love with him.

I absolutely love the movie, and so I finally got around to reading the book. I wanted to like this book so badly. But I just couldn't understand why Tristran and Yvainne love each other at the end. It was a generally lighthearted tale, and I love the Lord's of Stormhold, but they were barely there overall. Everyone raves about Gaimen, but this particular one wasn't for me - I'll stick with the movie.

I would give this 3.5 stars, but since I love Neil Gaiman I’ll round up to 4 because we still can’t do half stars.

I listened to this because I’m a big fan of the movie, it’s a comfort movie for me (idk). I would say this is a case where I like the movie more than the book. It clearly was changed to make it more cinematic which I liked. There’s more conflict with the witches and sons fighting for the throne. But still, it’s a fun quick read/listen and has a fun and magical storyline.

Me tardé mucho en leer este libro, pero valió la pena, de nuevo me encantó como escribe Neil Gaiman, seguiré leyendo sus libros, sé que no me van a defraudar. ❤️ <3
