My first audible... Gaiman reads Gaiman.  Up to then, I'd been a reader but not really a listener... I enjoyed Chivalry and Nicholas Was, but this was a novel,  short as it was.

The ending made me cry, so I revised to 5 stars even though I originally was going to give it 4.

You're always you, and that don't change, and you're always changing, and there's nothing you can do about it." <3

This audio version was indeed as awesome as promised. The voice acting was incredible- in particular the one who played Bod and Andrew Scott as the man Jack. (Of course no one pulls off creepy smoke curling through you voice like Andrew Scott and Benedict Cumberbatch. It's why they are both magical.) The story itself is excellent in its Gaiman-ness, though I wish to rant on one topic for a minute.

Spoiler Okay so this story IS well-crafted. But it uses the popular device that is most likely older than Oedipus but is what made it famous- that in which a prophecy is given and in an attempt to thwart said prophecy, the bad guys actually bring it to fruition. And I guess it's one I'm getting a little tired of because it's suppose to be a surprise twist but in reality is easy to see coming. The tale has great characters and interesting tales, at times alternating from a series of short stories to a flowing novel.
