Ok, but not great. It took off in the beginning but slowly became tedious. I did enjoy the characters.

Thought provoking and a real page turner. Can’t wait for the next to come out.

A Time for Mercy is #3 in the Jake Brigance series by John Grisham.
I enjoyed everything about this book, the pacing, the courtroom intricacies, the cops& criminals, but mostly the characters I love to read about. It was almost un-put=downable !
mysterious reflective tense fast-paced
Plot or Character Driven: Plot
Strong character development: Yes
Loveable characters: Yes
Diverse cast of characters: No
Flaws of characters a main focus: No

I feel disappointed in the lack of substance and overall mystery tbh. It was a good read, but some questions and situations were brought up about Stuart’s past that never really went anywhere or answered anything. I think this book lacked excitement

Another page turner by John Grisham. Hard to read this and not have Matthew McConaughey as Jake Brigance in my head. The ending does not tie everything up in a neat package and leaves much for the reader to speculate about how the characters' futures will play out. I like that.

I read A Time To Kill a long time ago, probably the second Grisham book I read (after The Firm), been hooked on his stuff ever since.

1.5 stars
This book, in a word, sucked. It starts off well, with a description of the crime that the book is centered upon. But then... nothing happens for like 300 pages. Well, stuff happens. But it doesn't have much to do with the crime from the first chapter. It seems like Grisham wrote himself into corners, backed out of them, and then wrote around in circles for awhile. Let me say this again - THREE HUNDRED PAGES of utter nonsense. I don't even think this was written by the same person, because the character of Jake Brigance has none of the humility and none of the redeeming qualities he possessed in A Time To Kill. He just whines about his money problems throughout the book. Then finally we get to the trial, and it's boring. At one point, Jake Brigance, talking about one of the prosecution's experts, whines about how boring it is. Dude, this is basically my life, reading this book. The ending is rushed and somewhat open-ended, but I will not be reading any further sequels, unless I'm having a bout of insomnia.

John Grisham at his finest. Great read!

“Murder must be punished, but murder can also be justified.”

A sequel in the story of Jake Brigance, a lawyer in a fictional Mississippi county. This matches the drama and intensity of A Time to Kill, and the side stories added interest. These books are easy to read due to Grisham’s straight-forward writing style that doesn’t require full attention or deep understanding to follow the story.

Jake Brigance is back and better than ever

This latest work by Grisham returns us to the world of Ford County and a fantastic cast of characters. Jake, Harry and Lucien are all here - along with many others that readers of John's work will remember.

Given how the book ends, I have to wonder if this particular case might be revisited at some point in the future. Aside from that, I found this book to be a great read.
