This was a fucking riot. Honestly, I just picked it up to fulfil my craving for a trashy romance novel but uh, this was so much more than that LMAO. I feel attacked.

Does it bang? Yes

Read this based on the recommendation from Fated Mates.  I did enjoy the friction and banter between the two main characters, but there were some things I found a bit hard to overlook. I tried to keep in mind that this was written in 1997.
The whole sabotaging-the-condom plot was hard for me to look past. I know she didn’t get pregnant on that occasion, but still. It’s so awful. And I know Cal says shouting is his “style of communication” but he uses such violent language that really turned me off - “I’m going to kill you”, “I should slap you”, etc. I guess we’re supposed to know he wouldn’t actually do those things, but that sets a bad precedent. The fact that he says them seems like a huge red flag that women should not ignore. However there were some hilarious moments too - the Lucky Charms, locking him out, the naked on the staircase scene.

What a rollercoaster. Thanks SEP for clearing some things up, tho! For instance:

"He was suppose to be stupid! He read comic books! How could he betray her like this?"

Ah yes. I didn't realise I was stupid, but thanks to this book, I now know. Thank God I don't eat Lucky Charms, then I would truly be hopeless.

The third book in the Chicago Stars series and my favourite so far. I really enjoyed the chemistry between Jane and Cal, it was spicy and fun. There was a decent little storyline to go along with the romance so that was good too.

My favourite part about the book was the dialogue, it was good and sassy.

I think I must have lost track of the time frames, because some of the pregnancy timeframes seemed very off to me, and that was the only thing that took me out of the story.

A really good fun light read filled with the trademark comic notes of SEP.

I don't think I've read a contemporary romance before and this one has a bit of a trashy feel to it but I have to say I enjoyed it. It felt like a Hollywood romcom. Seriously ridiculous premise, but if you can get over that it's an entertaining read.

The audiobook version of this is AWFUL. Horrible. Terrible. The story is fairly dumb too, but fine for the genre.

I liked this much more than I thought I would. Until I didn't!

I usually stay far away from romance plots that involve babies. Especially ones where the FMC is desperate to get pregnant. I just can't relate. But my GR friends and some others I follow loved this one so much I decided to give it a try.

I wasn't expecting, and loved the humor the author injected into the writing and characters. It kind of reminded me of a couple of my favorite mystery series, like the Miss Fortune or Stephanie Plum books. The characters and scenarios are OTT but in a really funny way.

Alas, about 3/4 thru the book there's this big scene where she finds something out and there's the big blow-up. Call me a wuss, but from that point forward there was just too much angst for me! I kind of skimmed the rest of it, but the magic was lost.

Fair warning, there's this whole consent thing where the character just decides to... skip the whole thing. You've been warned.

I hate but also kind of love this book. Obviously. non-consensual baby-making made me uncomfy. On top of that, Cal Bonner, pro-footballer nearing 40, very narcissistic, immature and so much more, made me LOSE MY MIND. Bro was bloody FORTY YEARS OLD. He could take the back seat and chill. His narrative was so hard to read. It feels like I'm reading a 12-year-old instead.

Then there's Jane. Who, if it wasn't for her, I would've DNFed this instead. I didn't like her at first, but she grew on me as she built a relationship with Cal's tough grandmother and then with his mother.

Cal & Jane's story doesn't intrigue me as much as Cal's parents' love story, honestly. I'm always down for a second chance love story and theirs was the most realistic and the most touching.

I normally really hate baby trapping. I liked how this one was framed and enjoyed this story. The fighting between the love interests was perfect!!!! I thought it was very cute and sweet!
