I liked this installment a lot more than the past two! Yippie!
Still I felt that some developments were quite choppy? I don't really know what happened there tbh
But I'm glad I went through with this series and I think we've got some good developments in this book
I think Samantha Shannon's strong suit is her world building and I'm excited how she'll continue to build upon it in the next book

Samantha Shannon continues to weave an intricate, ever-expanding web, managing to not drop a single thread. Characters you thought long gone reemerge in complex ways, deepening Paige's character growth. At book five in the series, especially a series like this, describing almost any details risks incredible spoilers. Hopefully, books six and seven will not take as long to arrive as book 5.

What a book! The story continues (almost) where book 4 ends.
Paige wakes up, not knowing where she is, how she got here and what anyone would want from here and in ture Paige fashion she stages and escape, not stopping until she has lot her tail and is in a different city.
The action-fueled start sets the pace and expectations for this book because there is not much time to pause for Paige. She gets back to Domino and is reunited with Maria. From then on, they unreavel the mystery of what happened to Paige, where Acturus is (and thankfully Paige come to the conclusion that she was wrong about him betraying her!), and what Nashira and Scion are planning, all the while navigating the free world.

As with the other books, we get some answers, but also some more question - and I am sure there are hints here and there that will be clear once you actually know more.

I could not put the book down. The pace was not too fast but also not too slow - so many things happened yet it did not feel like you were stumbling from one thing into the next.
