It's finally done! Woah I can't believe I finished this tome of a book . I loved most of it. The King James Bible is a really beautiful and astounding literary document that stands at the core of Western thought and tradition. My biggest problem is with the Bible's semantics. While it is well known that the Old Testament (a slightly remixed Hebrew Bible) contains some odd laws and punishments, it was the later half of the New Testament which really grossed me out. All of the epistles are really bigoted and clearly Roman. Jesus's message, which I really like, is warped into a political movement by Paul and Timothy. Their corruption of Jesus's message is so perverted that I really can't say the second half of the New Testament is worth internalizing.
I am glad I got this over with. Not everyone gets to read the complete King James and I feel enriched doing so.

Basically a 'How-to guide to humanity (even though you're basically fucked because this crazy dude in the sky can't get his shit together)' written either by a bunch of really disagreeable dudes or one totally schizophrenic individual. Some cool stories with brave lions and also giants.

I considered being flip and reviewing this like proper literature, critiquing all the boring "filler" and the misogyny, the homophobia, xenophobia, what have you. And of course, all of that business makes the holy bible emphatically not a one hundred percent fun read. Who reads it for fun, though? If we're not reading it for religious purposes (which I was not), we're reading it to educate ourselves and maybe to pick out a cool story here and there (done and done). In particular I'm a fan of Saul and David, and of course the early interesting bits in Genesis and Exodus, Joshua Judges Ruth. And our nice tidy Gospels.
Of course, strictly speaking I didn't LIKE most of it. Glad I did it, though.

Did not like the plot. Poor worldbuilding. Saw the plot twist coming. Also has a weird fanbase.

Horrible quality, poor character development and plot. Thankfully none of this stuff in this book is real
