Wasn't a fan. Put me in therapy.

1/5 for strong fan base, though--gotta give it to the authors for persuasive writing.

The book itself has some interesting stories but the cult that uses this as their main source of history is absolutely insane.

What is the view on circumcision today? Is it still considered a major sin not to be?

Read through it’s entirety a few times in my life. Overall its allegorical, fantastical stories are uninspired and unoriginal. If you want the OG version of the Jesus story, look into the Cults of Isis and their origin story. Immaculate conception and rising from the dead included. More than 2,000 years before Jesus came around. Typically I enjoy historical fiction but this book is full of contradictory statements that I have a hard time rationalizing. Even with the full knowledge that this is more of an anthology than anything so of course I know there will be different view points. Still, I guess I prefer consistency throughout. Also trigger warning ⚠️: this book contains incest, adultery, rape, sexual assault, sexual themes, kidnapping, death, childbirth/abortion, abuse, child abuse, pedophilia, animal cruelty, domestic violence, hate speech, graphic violence, fat phobia, mental illness, racism, sexism, classism, hateful language toward religious groups, transphobia, and homophobia. Sorry if I missed any, that’s all I could think of off the top of my head!
