I was very two-minded reading this book as I am not a FAN of Fantasy books, but hot damn Kristen Ashley did not disappoint me and why did I doubt it anyway, lol

Frey and Finnie's story was exactly what you want a book to be. To take you away to a far away place where you can have you Best Dreams come true.

My Fey:

Finnie:

Definitely will be finishing the story.

Maybe Apollo's story...

4.5/5 stars I really enjoyed this story, it was so much fun and had an amazing world. I think I can't give it 5 stars because I just didn't connect with it as much as I wanted to and at times I just didn't feel the realness of the world; the best way I can put this is at times, I felt like the characters were playing dress up and it just didn't feel real. This is all my perception and Kristen Ashley of course drew me in like she always does and didn't let me go until the story was done and I loved it for that reason. The adventure was fun and the characters were loveable and yes, I want to have a video review of this up so I'm going to stop here, but if you love romance with an added kick I would highly recommend!!

I loved this book. It's my favorite Kristen Ashley so far, and that's a hard contest considering how much I loved "Knight" and "Mystery Man". I am however, reading "Golden Dynasty" and obsessing a little over that, so this may be a short lived conquest, but AT THIS MOMENT it's my favorite. I'm not a huge reader of fantasy, but if they were all like this series I think I would be.

Hoooo boy.

In short: annoying and dumb MC, too many details.

I like the world building, it's not that logical for some reason and leaves open a lot of questions but it's kinda cute. And I want to know more.

But just too many details. I really don't need to know in absolute detail how the clothes of some random guards look. Especially if they only show up once and never again. Nor that the guard next to this one guard has some feather on his helmet and rubys on his sword.

I've read books with stupid MC but this one really takes the cake.

3* because I kinda still enjoyed. I don't even know why.

An engrossing, wonderful world with amazing characters and a beautiful love story.

This book was on my recommendation list from Goodreads so I kind of just trusted them and went ahead and read it without really knowing what was awaiting me. Boy this book did NOT disappoint. It was amazing. I loved the characters. There was a nice fantasy world, funny characters you came to care about and a good amount of action and intrigue. So it pretty much had everything. I couldn't put this book down. I had so many chores I wanted to do this Saturday and I just ended up reading this book all afternoon. It was brilliant. Some minor things that I didn't love: the name Finnie. To me this is the name you give to a pony, not a young woman. I couldn't really warm up to it and it felt to childish. That bugged me a bit. Also after a while I had enough of her "Ho Boy" and sometimes her behavior was just too childish. Loudly exclaiming "that's so cool" when learning elves exist didn't really fit in with the picture of this young woman seeking adventure. I did love Frey's expression though and his notice that Finnie's feet itch was brilliant. I loved that.

Story wise the reason I didn't give this 5 stars was because in general I thought the author made it too easy for her characters.
Spoiler I mean at the beginning Frey obviously hates Finnie and cannot stand to be next to her - because he thinks she is a lesbian. The moment she says she's not his entire demeanor changes and he's oh so on board with the whole marriage arrangement. That was just too easy... Then every time there was a serious conflict, it was also solved either too easily or too safely. If Finnie is being attacked Frey and his men almost flee until their in save waters again (literally) and they all go back to easy-peasy relaxed states. And when Frey makes life altering decisions that threaten their relationship, there is no real confrontation because they're being attacked so they're a little distracted and in the end it's all good. Finally, I'm not saying I wanted Frey to die, not at all!!! But again, I felt like the author played it a bit to save with his heroic saving and appearance with dragons...

I still loved the book. This is one of those lucky finds I'm extremely grateful for and I know that I'll devour the second book today too.
