We can probably blame this on me??? I *should* have put this down after the first chapter, but I was hoping it would be silly and fun and the concept would keep me invested.
What I neglected to consider was how irritating the love interest would be, how bizarre his “angry persona” would seem next to his “I’m a sweet loving husband” routine, and how MIND NUMBINGLY ANNOYED I WOULD GET AT THE WORDS “ho boy” which appear on every other page.
Pass.

Graphic: Misogyny, Gaslighting
Minor: Homophobia
I only perused the second half of the book, it's so unnecessarily long, there are so many inconsequential scenes in this book it baffles me, so much filler for a simple story that could've have been sweet and cliché but ok. Instead Ashley has tried to make it into something it's not, real fantasy!
Other than the sexual tension between the main characters there isn't a real connection, at least it didn't feel like that to me. Their relationship is empty and one dimensional, but that's what you should expect from the title I guess. So don't expect exceptional prose, or real relatable people or even a decent plot.
I did go into it expecting it to be entertaining and it was, but you readers out there be warned, fillers fillers fillers!

Though I greatly enjoyed this book, rereading it has reminded me of the things that irritated me about it.
First, bad/lazy editing:
Passed is used in place of past every single time! It's not that difficult, an editor should know these things. Or is it an Americanism that I'm not aware of? I know that I don't have especially good grammar skills but word misuse really rankles with me.
Full proof! Really? I'm surprised, really surprised (and appalled).
Second, is it really necessary for Finnie to whisper so often? For the record, whisper comes up 398 times in 536 pages. That's OTT even for the non discerning reader. After about the 100th time it really gets irritating.

No
I can't do it. I DNF'd around 40%. I was SO interested in the plot, but I just couldn't get past the main character sounding and acting like a child. I don't need a conventionally smart heroine, but her voice was just so incredibly juvenile and grating.
I really enjoyed listening to this book, and I would still have good memories of it, if not for the book 2 and 3 (then I stopped listening to them)
I liked Finnie, that she is more on the feminine side, but fiercely approach all new situations. Her vocabulary was irritating, but liking her I got over it. I focused on interesting storyline, which was different from what I usually read. I didn't mind it being mostly about relationship. I quite enjoyed their interactions, and would not think much more of it, if not for next books.
I believe experience with this one can be really enjoyable, if you do not expect much of a plot. If you are here for romance with possessive alpha male with spice

Kristen Ashley is one of my favorite writers. Her books are compelling and relatable.
Wildest Dreams is the same. I love the story behind it and the lead up to the full series. I love the romance, intrigue and the plot behind it all.

Fantasia gostosa e despretensiosa. Focado no romance e na aventura. Ritmo de desenvolvimento muito bom. A tradução e edição pecou um pouco e diminuiu um pouco o aproveitamento. Ansiosa pelo próximo.
Wow.
Where do I even start on this review?
Hrmm, okay. So, I've been searching for another long fantasy/historical/romance type since I first read one I adored about five years back (Earths Children by Jean M Auel). I've read many different books since then, loved a fair few of them but none have quite got me as Ayla's story did in Earths Children.
Until now that is.
I've read 'Wildest Dreams' and 'The Golden Dynasty'. I only ever put the books down to eat & sleep, literally. I was hooked and sadly finished them both within four days. Sad but also a sign of how brilliant these books are.
I honestly cannot wait to get my hands on the third book and hope that the author keeps producing these wonderful stories. :)
I must admit that 'The Golden Dynasty' got me more. (I'll leave anymore about this book for it's own review. :))
