It's been a while since I read this and I didn't get to reviewing it earlier, so this will be short.
We are introduced to a parallel universe that resembles medieval times, where every person from this world has a "twin" there. Finnie, the heroine, is a thrill seeker, and when she discovers the existence of that parallel world, she decides that visiting it for a while would be a great adventure.
She exchanges places with her twin, only to discover that she's been conned. She arrives shortly before her wedding to a powerful lord who is not happy with the match but agreed to it for political reasons. He does not like her twin and is prepared for an unhappy marriage, but soon discovers that Finnie is not the woman he knows.
Interesting world and engaging plot that made the story enjoyable, although not particularly memorable. Next in the series comes [b:The Golden Dynasty|12458287|The Golden Dynasty (Fantasyland, #2)|Kristen Ashley|https://images.gr-assets.com/books/1327913192s/12458287.jpg|17441876].

Let me preface by saying I was recommended this book under the guise of it being a fantasy parallel universe romance, with the age old marriage trope. The cover also was pretty! So I thought I’d give it a try.
What I did not expect was the vulgar language juxtaposed by the immature speech and wording that I’ve honestly never read outside casual 2012 social media posts. “Welp, etc”. Not even to mention the casual homophobia and sexism (but the latter isn’t really surprising).
I’m honestly disappointed but also glad I didn’t dish out £17 for the paperback and instead bought the ebook for £3.

I didn't think I would get into these, but it was an OK read!
Re-read this book for the nth time and it's still as if I just read it the first time. Amazing!

RE-READ THIS TODAY (03/11/2015) AND YES, THIS BOOK IS STILL BEYOND MY WILDEST DREAMS. SO DAMN AWESOME!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
---------------------------------
The title says it all.
Kristen Ashley has done it again. She made me love her characters all over again. This time, she also made me believe that there's a parallel, universe out there. It's like the Game of thrones complete with magic, elves, dragons and conspiracy, minus all the weird sexual scenes.
I loved Finnies's character right away because she is EXCITED. She's always excited and always very interested with everything. I was awed with the grace that she showed in the face if a very unknown place and a very shocking event. She always found something good about something that is generally bad. Kike the situation that she was in. She made the most out of it and she kicked ass. :)
Frey on the other hand, is quite lovable too. I just hate the way he withheld pertinent information from Finnie. I think Finnie deserved to know everything and I'm also thinking that Frey had a free pass from that since he kinda sorta died while Finnie was confronting him about it. Anyway, he has a very strong character. Everyone bows down to him and everyone reveres him because hellooo... who would want the wrath of the person who commands the dragons and the elves? It's such a good thing too that he laughs a lot with Finnie because aside from being hot while doing this, it also shows that he appreciate Finnie's words. I like how they talk to each other. I like how they stayed open and not let a fight last for soooo lone.. well longer than a few weeks, that is. I love how he cares so much for a virtual stranger and I love how he shows that he cares. He's i posing and yet, he's also very gentle. His character has a very nice mixture. I love it sooo much!!
The story has many twists and turns. It has any high and low points and it has magic. I love how it started and especially how it ended. I hope that the next one in this series is also good.. or better.... :)

Lol well this was every bit of cheesy you'd expect a fantasy romance novel to be. XD
I felt like it was a bit longer than necessary and found myself skimming a lot of parts but this kept me surprisingly interested until the end. I just thought that Finnie was a little immature? I don't know if the author mentioned the character's age but based on how many times she said "cool" or "awesome", she sounded to me like a 16 year old girl from the valley. But other than that, she was tolerable.
Frey was very Khal Drogo to me but then again so was Lahn from The Golden Dynasty, which I might add was 100 percent a Khal Drogo/Daenerys knock off story. So I'm beginning to think all the books in this series, well at least all the males in this, are based on Khal Drogo.
Overall, Wildest Dreams was decent. It was a little too long and I was bored in some parts but it kept me entertained enough. You don't really read these types of books for the world-building but it was a decent romance book set in a fantasy world.

Reread 2019: Yep. This book still pisses me off.
Original review 2014: What do you get when you mix a weak heroine who won't stand up for herself with an asshat hero who humiliates and bullies her? A migraine and OMFG RAGE.
I wanted to cut his balls off, chop them into small pieces and feed them to him. Very slowly. I also wanted to smack her upside the head and tell her to grow a pair. My head hurts just thinking about these two. Hell, maybe they deserve each other.
