It really takes a lot for me to DNF a book and this one. I just couldn’t finish it. I hate how condescending & homophobic the guy was. Also, I hate just about everything in the new world the writer tried to take us. I guess the author was missing those old misogynistic and homophobic days.
I absolutely LOVED this book. Yes, I admit there were times when I was like "man, this doesn't seem to be relevant" but then by the end everything was put together. There were times when I could not put it down and even one time when I had to put it down and walk away because my emotions were ALL over the place (in a good way). I read it on my Kindle, and I do wish there was a map in the beginning. Not sure if the actual book has it, but it would have been nice to have. I am kind of disappointed that the second book follows a different protagonist because I feel like it ended with a lot of questions and adventures that the main couple had to do.

This is the only English novel that came up when I hunted for otome isekais. And I'm gonna say I almost shelved this as faves from the first chapters, but then the middle happen, and I just can't anymore.
I feel like the writer is trying very hard at the explicit scenes, but OH BOY! She kinda sucks...and not the good kind. The moment I read 'Yes,yes,yes,yes,yes" paragraph here, then another "Yes,yes,yes,yes" sprinkle it with the words 'undies' and, by the grace of the lord, 'baby"–that word – you bet your silly arse it's a definite drop. Not to mention they're going to talk about it to people how amazing it was when it was a pure nightmare for me... capital CRINGE-FEST.
And Jesus H. Christ! don't get me started on the homophobia and sexism. Shamefully, I was already warned about how there's a bit of them. And I was so smug cuz I said to myself, if there's little, I could take it. I mean, I read a lot of Historical Romances, after all.
Let me get this straight. There isn't a little bit of homophobia and sexism here, readers. There is a giant cockatoo of 'em. Literally, every time the main characters interact, it stinks of sexism! and every time the thoughts veer to the original ice princess, the homos be snatchin'.
So that's it, I'm out.

I don't get why so many people are obsessed with this one. Fortunately, it's not on the level of bad as Rock Chick, so I think I will continue with this series, if only for the fact that it's an okay distraction and a good carpool listen. I just couldn't get anywhere near to loving this because too many eye-rolls happened over the course of this love story, though it was generally sweet--just not my bag as far as relationship dynamics go. I liked the world created though, and the minor characters introduced, and future stories hinted at. Hopefully Golden Dynasty is better.
