The girls definitely needed therapy to deal with the PTSD but was never even a thought after they were out of the hospital. The ending seemed anticlimactic

Not a bad read from Lucinda Berry! The first two thirds of the book captured me a lot more than the final act. I did predict the gyst of what happened with Sarah and their situation, which took me out of it a bit. I felt it to be a pretty realistic portrayal of life during and after such traumatic events, especially for survivors so young. The twist at the end just didn't do it for me.

What a hard read! Didn't like how abruptly it ended. Also, I must find out who narrated Sarah 's parts so that I never listen to another audiobook narrated by her. Every single sentence was read so robotically, like each one was a statement instead of fluidly being interconnected.

Way too uncomfortable with the underage, non-consent, sexual content.

Very much felt like the plot of a Criminal Minds or SVU episode. I really disliked Ella’s mom,
I cannot fathom refusing to listen to a professional’s advice and actively ignoring your traumatized daughter’s pleads to not make her live with someone who idolized their shared abuser. Ella should have punched Petra as soon as she called her “our mom”.
