I’m not sure how to rate this book. On the one hand, this book was so profound and I’m a little scare that it came to me the moment it did (it was our book club’s march pick and throughout this month I’ve been discussing exactly the book’s themes (though not intentionally discussing the book) with friends and family. Reading it has been “a spiritual exercise”. When I chose to pick up the book (which was not an easy choice) I felt I was entering another realm. I felt I was going to Church or speaking with and about God. The spiritual exercise I’ve largely abandoned in my day-to-day life. I also felt that I needed someone to articulate exactly this (this discussion about being enough by your first, having to first love yourself before loving someone else). I identified with the main character so much at times, even though I didn’t like her much. But then, on the other hand, this book is under 200 pages and it took so long to finish. The problem was stopping reading it because then I never wanted to pick it up again. But whenever I did pick it up I did like it. I liked that I trusted the author and felt I was acceding a Larger Knowledge.
