Hm :/ pretty disappointed by this because I was absolutely loving it until about 75% in.

But the ending and overarching ..plot? Just absolutely crumbled. I didn’t really understand the motive or point anymore. It was incredibly messy and I’m perturbed.

I had high hopes for this novel at the start, but i found it hard to engage and a lot of it felt like the author was simply ticking off tropes as it carried on. A shame as the premise and dark folklore vibes were totally my thing.

This one combines a few different genres. It is heavy on fantasy with world building. There is romance with major tension. It is also a murder mystery with twists and turns along the way. It also gives dark academia vibes that drew me in.

It took me a while to get into it. I felt like it was a bit of a slow burn on the romance. I was confused about some of the characters' back stories. I am glad I stuck it out. It was interesting to see how things went.
