this was a good read. A perfect example of judging before knowing. Both had crazy expectations of one another, misunderstood everything, and had to start over trying to become friends before becoming more. And once they learned how the other thought and felt they got over the fear and uncertainty and bonded properly. A really good book about assumptions and overcoming your fears of the unknown. also sweet as can be. my only complaint is that I wish it was longer, more filled out, it could have gone from good to epic with more of the daily interactions that lead to their good place.

It’s not often you get a slow-burn monster romance, but I really enjoyed this one most than I expected. Both characters have to work and grow to connect with each other in a way that feels rightfully earned.

“Balls deep” LOL they had so many communication issues that should have been easily solved at the beginning. Very frustrating.

This was for the most part cute. I wasn't a huge fan of grevar and I found his development clunky. I wish their relationship had been more developed in general. I also wanted it to lean a little more into the krampus/Christmas theme.

Dumdum Daisy is the biggest idiot. The sex is squeezed in at the very end. What is the point of this book?

Krampus love story

Grevar, the top-ranking officials within his planet Army is rewarded with a wife from his long battle with an alien beast. He is gifted the reward of having a wife. Daisy is the first human within a couples agency program to be married to these Krampus-like aliens. Their relationship starts off rocky with many misunderstandings, but it makes the story that much better.

I love Krampus, and I was first introduced to Krampus from a book by Brom. So I had reference material, and of my good, it made this fantastic Christmas romance. Marina has magical hands.

Warning: rant ahead.

I feel cheated.

Grumpy Loves Sunshine is my favorite romance trope. I get so excited; I know I'm in for a treat when one comes up.

What was presented as a Grumpy Loves Sunshine story is, in fact, a Grumpy Goes Round After Round with Toxic White Woman story.

The let-down was epic.

Sunshine is Sunshine because she sees the best in everyone, doesn't take pot shots, and doesn't assume bad intentions (even when they're obviously clear). She definitely doesn't give up after a single blip that would have been easily surmounted if she had eaten a snack and taken a nap to get her blood sugar back up. Sunshine picks herself up and keeps throwing herself at an Impossible Task. It's why she works so well with Grumpy, who nobody else gives a chance to shine and show what they're worth. And Grumpy adores Sunshine for it. Sunshine is Grumpy's precious, and Grumpy usually does not want to share their treasure.

Other than her hair and dress choices? Daisy ain't Sunshine. She jumps to the worst possible conclusion every single time and is cringingly vile in her interactions the first 35% of this book:
Spoiler in the first few hours these two know each other, she 1, tells Grevar he's a bad father without knowing a single thing about how children are raised on her new home planet or bothering to ask why living arrangements are the way they are. 2, she then decides he's an unhinged rapist who needs to be barricaded out of his own room after what turned out to be a pretty reasonable misunderstanding on his part. And 3, decides he must be holding her prisoner and will do all manner of awful things to her because he yelled at her and a mirror was broken in a confrontation. Yeah. That escalation of events was like 75% her. So Sweet and Sunshiney. And it just got worse from there while she sulked and went out of her way to hide and then make even more nasty assumptions about him.
