3.5 As usual with Grace Burrowes, lots of lovely family interplay and warm family feelings, and for those familiar with her earlier Windham books, it's fun to see the heroes as children. I really liked that this is a mid-relationship story, where an already-in-love couple has to deal with the difficulties of maintaining their love after the initial HEA-- a real rarity in romance. I also appreciated the way incorporates the historical fact that many women became physically and emotionally drained by the constant childbearing and birthing of the period. Not wild about the evil courtesan mother plotline; as the child's father, wouldn't Percy have had the right to take his daughter away?

Moral of the story is that the Duchess of Moreland is a saint….truly.

Fun, though not as clever as the first, but more wonderful. It's filled with the after the love story love.

Though two things prevent me from giving it 4 stars:

Why did Esther go from smelling of lavender in the first prequel to roses in the second? And when did Percy's eyes become green (they were blue likes the "blooms of rosemary" in the first)--a trait he passed down to all of his children?

Ah, there was the story I was missing. Hard to watch these two tiptoe around each other, and I wish more has been written about the two kids. Overall, though, a nice, quick read to finish off the tale of this Duke and his Duchess.

I'm 31% done with The Duke and His Duchess: Well-written, but I had a feeling about where it was headed and a few spoiler-y reviews confirmed it. I might not return to it, as it isn't my usual (babies, family strife), and I'm not invested in the couple/family.

A continuation of The Courtship. It was a change to read the story after the "happily ever after". Very real, showing what a couple experiences when they have many children close together. How it can be challenging, even when they love each other and their children. I think some readers might find it a little TOO real in this aspect. Also, the hero kept saying that sheaths break, and I was muttering, "Then fricking pull out then!" Lol.

I enjoyed this, although it wasn't the fluffy bit of brain candy I was expecting.

I listened to the audiobook version of this story and it was wonderfully narrated.
